Why
give someone a single still framed picture when you can give them
an entire slide show? The MF-575 is an inexpensive hi-tech digital
photo, MP3, and video player with a bright, high-resolution 5.6-inch
color TFT screen.
When I bought my first
MF-575
picture frame
, I got it as a gift for a family member who liked to complain
that I never send them pictures anymore. The problem is, I have a
digital camera and haven't gotten any pictures developed in several
years. So now, whenever I go over to their house for a visit, I just
bring an extra memory card from my digital camera full of new pictures.
If you don't have an extra memory card, the MF-575 has an easy-to-use
MD/SD/MMC memory card reader that plugs into any computer with a
USB port. So you can just plug the entire picture frame into your
computer and copy the pictures onto the card that way if necessary.
This year on Christmas morning
I was thinking about snapping a series of pictures while everyone
is opening their gifts. Then I'll take the memory card out of my
digital camera and pop it into the
MF-575
picture frame
for an instant slide show
for everyone to enjoy on Christmas afternoon. Good idea right? The
number of images you can put into your MF-575 slide show is only limited
by the capacity of the
memory
card
being used.
If you like to make a lot
of goofy family movies in video editing applications like Avid
DV Xpress or iMovie, just save them out as either a MPEG1, 2,
or 4 movie formats and copy them onto a memory card. The next time
you put your memory card into the MF-575, you'll have a fancy video
slide show.
During the series of tests I ran on the unit, I copied cell phone pictures,
digital camera images and even music from a CD onto a SanDisk memory
card to check out the MF-575's capabilities. I'm pretty impressed.
One piece of advice: if you usually take hi-resolution photos with
your digital camera, you might want to reduce some of the larger
pictures in Adobe
Photoshop so they don't look distorted when displayed
on the MF-575. A 30in x 20in digital picture at 300dpi is a little overkill for a small 5x7 picture
frame.
NERD
NOTE: All Digital Spectrum photo frames support
up to 6M pixels, JPEG photos following EXIF and DCF standards
Landscape orientated photos are recommended.
The
MF-575
picture frame
is light, portable
and very easy to use. I had my first slide show up and running within
5 minutes of opening the box (it was so easy to set up, I didn't
even need the manual). As soon as you turn on the MF-575, it starts
playing your slide show without any other interaction and it will even
continuously loop through your pictures with random fade in/out effects.
So easy your grandparents might even be able to work it.
Overall, the MF-575 is a
great companion to your digital camera and an excellent way of showing
off your pictures and video clips to family and friends. It's a great
digital picture frame, but keep your expectations low as far as the
background music capability goes. This tiny picture frame doesn't
exactly have an amazing sound system hidden inside.
The MF-575 Digital Picture
Frame makes a great gift for friends, family and even your corporate
clients.
