Yuck! Authorities are considering criminal charges against the Dave Matthews Band and one of its tour bus drivers for allegedly dumping human waste. The tour bus was observed expelling waste into the Chicago River. To make matters worse, the crime was “observed” by a boat filled with passengers on a Chicago architecture tour. The incident has been nicknamed the “Dave Matthews Band Poopgate”.
The announcement came a day after the state sued the band and driver Stefan Wohl, accusing them of violating state water pollution and public nuisance laws. The lawsuit seeks at least $70,000 in civil penalties.

Chicago Police said surveillance footage from nearby buildings shows the Dave Matthews tour bus crossing the grated bridge on August 8th as the boat passed underneath.
“Certainly, this is the bus that discharged this fluid,” Chicago Police Commander Michael Chasen said. He said the driver told police he crossed the bridge around the time of the incident but didn’t admit dumping the waste.
The Architecture Tour From Hell
More than 100 people on an architecture tour were showered with the foul-smelling waste from the Dave Matthews Band tour bus. The attorney general’s office said no one was seriously injured. However, in addition to being covered in the waste, many of the passengers also reportedly got waste in their mouthes.
Ironically, one of Dave Matthews’ biggest songs is “Don’t Drink the Water“. Wonder if the judge will play that at the trial?
