Google Looks to Create ‘Followership’

Google Looks to Create 'Followership' 1Google is prepared to pump more video into YouTube, an executive with the search giant said.

Days after the $1.65 billion sale was announced, Marissa Mayer, Google vp search product and user experience, discussed the company’s acquisition at a breakfast hosted Friday by the New Yorker and Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Communications.

Envisioning more new-media partnerships and advertising initiatives in the future for the popular video site, Mayer said that Google could help YouTube increase its current average of 65,000 video uploads per day.

“We need to work more on partnerships,” she said. “Sixty-five thousand is a lot, but not nearly as much as it could be.”
