Steven Spielberg is a legend. Over his 50 year career, he has taken audiences on adventures with Indiana Jones, brought dinosaurs back to life in Jurassic Park, and showed us the horrors of war in Schindler’s List and Saving Private Ryan. As a director and producer, he has brought countless films and television series to the masses. It’s almost impossible to create a top films list and not include several Steven Spielberg movies. Here are some of the greatest movie scenes of all time from Steven Spielberg movies.

01) Jurassic Park: T-Rex Scene (1993)

The T-Rex scene in Jurassic Park is one of the greatest movie scenes of all time when it comes to intensity. The scene slowly builds as the tyrannosaurus rex approaches the two grandchildren (Ariana Richards and Joseph Mazzello) who are trapped in an SUV. They don’t help the situation by shining a flashlight in the dinosaur’s eyes. The kids do their best to hold off the T-Rex even resorting to holding the sunroof glass in between them. Then Dr. Grant (Sam Neill) and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) use rescue flares to distract the dinosaur and help the children escape. Unfortunately, the scene doesn’t end well for the lawyer, Mr. Gennaro (Martin Ferrero). He is eaten after his hiding spot in the outhouse is revealed.

02) Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade: Leap Of Faith (1989)

As Indiana Jones closes in on finding the Holy Grail, he comes to a deep cavern with no visible way across. The distance is too far to jump across and the clue in his father’s journal says “Only in the leap from the lion’s head will he prove his worth.” After realizing the jump is physically impossible, Indy takes a “Leap Of Faith”.

03) E.T.: The Goodbye (1982)

The goodbye scene in E.T. was probably the first time a fictional character in a rubber suit made movie audiences cry. In this touching scene, Elliot (Henry Thomas) says his final goodbye to E.T.. They use sign language to tell each other that both their hearts hurt and then embrace one last time. E.T. then reminds Elliot that they will always be together in each other’s memories.

04) Close Encounters Of The Third Kind: Surrounded (1977)

This intense scene has Jillian (Melinda Dillon) and her son Barry (Cary Guffey)  trapped in their home, surrounded by aliens. But you never see the aliens. Just “extraterrestrial” lights, fog, and objects in their home being mysteriously moved. A very intense scene for an enemy that can’t be seen.

05) Jaws: Get Out Of The Water (1975)

Brody (Roy Scheider) is on edge. He’s already witnessed a shark attack first hand. He knows that the shark is still out there. He watches carefully as his neighbors and family play at the beach. All the while everyone continues to tease him about being afraid of the water. His fears, unfortunately, are realized when he sees a shark attack a cluster of kids playing in the water. The famous scene from Jaws ends with a heartbreaking moment when a mother can’t find her son.
