Movie stars mingled with musicians, with TV stars mixing in as well.
The 33rd annual People’s Choice Awards at Shrine Auditorium brought out stars across entertainment fields, from country music’s Kenny Chesney (an ABC Desperate Housewives fan) to Halle Berry (an Ugly Betty buff) to Katherine Heigl (loved The Devil Wears Prada).
Heigl’s Grey’s Anatomy co-star Patrick Dempsey arrived solo and said wife Jill Fink’s due date (they’re expecting twins) is secret, “but I can tell you she looks beautiful. I do miss her at these events.” He said he just signed on for a new film, Maid of Honor, “and I play the maid of honor.”
Host Queen Latifah shouldered several barbs on her sparkly, form-fitting outfit from Robin Williams as he accepted the night’s first award (favorite comedian). Her look was all about “being beautiful, feminine and a touch of wild,” she said from the red carpet. ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy and CSI on CBS are her favorite TV shows, she said, adding that when she saw Grey’s star Sara Ramirez on the red carpet, she darted over for an introduction and a hug. “She represents all us fit girls,” said the singer/actress, whose next movie pairs her with Diane Keaton in Mad Money.
