The band Weezer was formed in 1992 by vocalist and lead guitarist Rivers Cuomo, bassist Matt Sharp, drummer Patrick Wilson, and guitarist Jason Cropper. The band had its first practice on February 14, 1992. Their first gig was closing for Keanu Reeves‘ band Dogstar. Weezer recorded its debut album with producer Ric Ocasek at Electric Lady Studios in New York City. During the recording, Cropper left the band and was replaced by guitarist Brian Bell.
