China overtook us last month in users for the 1st time ever… at least according to the state-run China Internet Network Information Center. BDA China Ltd., a Chinese research firm, says there are over 220M Internet users in China. The United States only has 217M.

However America does still have some bragging rights. Online advertising revenue continues to lag behind in China. eMarketer estimates that $21B in advertising was sold in the United States in 2007. Only $1.3 billion was sold in China during the same time period.
