Looking for a creative use for your broken Nintendo GameBoy? How about a “retro” iPod case? I found this little hacked up masterpiece on etsy.com. This iPod case is made out of a gutted 1st generation GameBoy.
TL;DR:
- A vintage black and white Gameboy has been transformed into a working iPod case by a seller on Etsy. The case has a remote control that allows the user to change songs and volume with the case closed. The case has been tested to work with an original iPod mini and a nano.
Cool iPod Case Made From A Gutted Retro GameBoy
Sure it looks cool, but the best part about this case is the functionality. The GameBoy’s buttons are actually wired to a a remote control that allows you to change songs as well as the volume when the case is closed. That’s right! This Etsy seller has modded an original Nintendo Gameboy to function as a working iPod Nano/Mini — the buttons even work!
The guy who made it, Cavco, says it has been tested to work with the original iPod mini and an iPod nano.
Here’s the etsy description:
Get your old school on!
Rock out to your ipod with this “retro” protective case.
This ipod case is made out of a vintage black and white gameboy. It controls the ipod through the buttons on the front of the gameboy while keeping the ipod safe inside (see the pictures).
The front buttons are wired into a remote control so you can change the song and the volume with the case screwed closed.
It has been tested to work with an original ipod mini and also a nano.
Got questions?
I made it, so maybe I can answer them!
