Need to shutdown a WiFi network? Here’s a simple trick that is sure to cause chaos and have the IT department (aka your dad) scratching their heads while they try to figure out what happened.

Depending on how smart the IT managers are at a location, disabling the public WiFi is relatively simple. You don’t need an app, coding experience, or any fancy hardware either. All you need is a WiFi device, like a smartphone or laptop, and admin credentials for that device.

Here’s An Easy Trick On How To Disable A WiFi Network

This hak is easy. YOU DONT NEED AN APP TO DISABLE PEOPLES WIFI. Wait, you don’t need an app to make the wifi unusable? The answer is yes, and many people don’t know this, you can use a computer, iPhone, Android, etc… any device that can connect to WIFI. Here’s what you need to do.

1. Connect to the WiFi network that you want to disable.
2. Open the WiFi settings on your device
3. Access the IP addresses and look for the router’s IP address. Something like 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.1
4. Once you identify the router’s address, put that same exact address into your device’s IP address.
5. The IP address AND the gateway IP address should be the SAME. For example: If the gateways IP is 10.0.0.1 yours should also be 10.0.0.1.
6. Click save and your done!

After you change you device’s IP address to the same as the router’s address, chaos should ensure. Let me explain why, and how this works.

Basically, your rerouting all of the traffic to your device by making the IP the same as the router. It will confuse the system and screw everything up. Whenever someone tries to access the Internet, it will attempt to retrieve that data from your device, but your device doesn’t supply that data and it messes up the router.

I never did it again the rest of the cruise.

So, anyways here’s a way to mess up the WiFi. But I advise not doing it unless you are testing this hack on your own network. Messing up the WiFi can be illegal and result in severe consequences for you! For example, doing this, at a hotel could deprive people from attending work meetings via Zoom, or even prevent somebody from accessing life saving medical information on the Internet.
