After years of talk, new media is finally emerging as a significant revenue stream in the TV marketplace. That was the message streaming out of Cannes as the MIPCOM confab moved into its closing phase.
A string of video-on-demand deals announced on the Croisette involving such major players as BBC Worldwide, CBS/Paramount and Buena Vista International Television underlined the way new sales opportunities are opening up.
“VOD deals have been prolific at the market and are emerging as a clear revenue stream,” Granada International managing director Nadine Nohr said. “Doing VOD deals is now increasingly common.”
