Jeff Zucker has worked his way from the bottom up at NBC for the past 20 years, but given the U.S. television network’s unimpressive ratings in the last year, this season could well have been his last.
That was until Zucker, chief executive for NBC Universal Television Group, found himself some heroes, including a blockbuster drama show by that name, which is the top new series among 18-to-49 year olds.
Through the opening three weeks of the fall season, NBC’s ratings are up 15% from a year earlier among viewers ages 18 to 49. All told, NBC attracted 10% more viewers this year, while none of its major competitors managed more than 3%
