Apple may release its remaining products for 2022, which include updated iPad Pro, Mac mini, and 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, through press releases on its website rather than a traditional event with Apple CEO, Tim Cook, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman.

New 2022 iPad And Mac Models
When is the new iPad coming out? According to recent reports, in October Apple is planning to release updated versions of the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models, as well as the Mac mini and 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. These updated models are expected to be equipped with the new M2 chip.
Apple’s Pivot To Product Releases Via Press Release, Not Events
In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman said that Apple is currently “likely to release its remaining 2022 products via press releases, updates to its website and briefings with select members of the press” rather than a digital event. Rumors had suggested that Apple was planning a second fall event in October that would focus on the Mac and iPad, but Gurman believes that may no longer be the case.
This change in strategy could be a result of the current market conditions. The PC industry has been stagnant for a few years now, while the smartphone and tablet markets have been reaching new heights. Apple may feel that releasing updates to existing products via press releases is a more efficient way to market its products to customers.
Although unusual, using press releases to announce products isn’t unprecedented for Apple. The tech company has released significant products via press release in the past, such as the AirPods Max and the original AirPods Pro. But announcing a product as important as the new 2022 iPad Pro is something that Apple has never done before.
Apple’s M2 Chip
It’s likely that all of the updated Apple products being announced in October, including the new 2022 iPad Pro, will use the new M2 chip. In addition to the new chip, the updates to the Macs and iPads will be relatively incremental upgrades with no major design changes rumored for the products.
