NBC and Saturday Night Live have taken another step to endear themselves with the social-networking world, by producing an embeddable widget that will bring SNL material to your MySpace or blog page. The clips are from SNL’s Backstage offering, which provides behind-the-scenes material for SNL fans who just can’t get enough during the weekly broadcasts.
While building a business on MySpace’s shoulders might not always be a stable ride, since NBC and News Corp are online video buddies these days, it’s a safe bet that SNL clips won’t be blocked anytime soon.
The widgets were expected, since NBCU head honcho George Kliavakoff talked openly of their development at a Cisco confab back in December. If the SNL one takes off, maybe more will be in the works?
