Have you ever tweeted something you regretted? The average person can just go into Twitter and delete it. However, if you’re a celebrity or have a lot of followers, your tweet will probably get retweeted and saved all over the Internet.
Unfortunately, Spike Lee retweeted an incorrect address for George Zimmerman, the man who allegedly shot Trayvon Martin. Now an elderly couple in Sanford, Florida, is living in fear.
The Wrong George Zimmerman
Elaine and her husband David McClain, have a son named William George Zimmerman. Their George Zimmerman has no relation to the neighborhood watchman who shot and killed unarmed Trayvon Martin on February 26.
The Orlando Sentinel says that the McClains have relocated to a hotel to avoid any misdirected backlash.
The lesson here: Think before you tweet, especially if you have a big Twitter following.
