Volkswagen‘s marketing team came up with a brilliant way to communicate how risky it is to use mobile phones while driving. In a movie theater in Hong Kong, they showed footage of a driver who gets in an accident while texting. But a split-second before the moment of impact, a text message was sent to everyone in the theater. As you might expect, many of them glanced at their phones and looked up to see the accident aftermath.
The shocking PSA cinema stunt, called “Eyes On The Road,” made it clear how dangerous texting while driving can be and how it only takes a second without your eyes on the road to get into a serious accident.
We’ve blogged about the dangers of texting while your eyes should be elsewhere many times. In 2009 a teen fell down an open manhole while texting and walking in New York City. And in 2012, a man almost walked into a bear while texting as news helicopter was broadcasting live on local Los Angeles TV. Have you had a close call while texting? Do you know someone who has? Please tell us about it in the comments below.
