Astronauts Are Playing Angry Birds Space on the International Space Station

A new version of everyone’s favorite mobile game is back and it’s even getting a marketing boost from NASA! Rovio, the game studio behind Angry Birds, has a fresh new version of their game franchise coming out March 22, 2012, called Angry Birds Space. What makes it different from Angry Birds Seasons or Angry Birds Rio? In a word, gravity.

Gravity?!

In this new version of the Angry Birds game franchise, the birds fly differently in zero-gravity. Gamers will now have to contend with not only smashing objects and pigs to rescue the bird’s eggs but using microgravity to help steer the birds in the right direction.

Playing Angry Birds In Outerspace

In a video released this week by Rovio, NASA astronaut Don Pettit explained some of these new gravity-based levels that gamers will have to contend with in Angry Birds Space. The video was shot on the International Space Station which gave Pettit the opportunity to do some zero-gravity physics demonstrations.
