It was only a matter of time before Apple‘s iMac G5 would be discounted. Like many I could not understand why Apple had both the iMac G5 and iMac Core Duo models priced the same. But this has changed. You can now get a 20″ G5 iMac for $200.00 less. Yes that’s right, this model is now selling for $1,499.00.

What’s The Difference Between The iMac G5 and Core Duo?
Visually, there’s no difference between Apple’s iMac G5 and iMac “Core Duo”. They both essentially use the same all-in-one enclosure. However, the iMac “Core Duo” 2.0 20-Inch replaces the PowerPC G5 processor with an Intel “Core Duo” processor. This makes the iMac Core Duo the first Apple desktop computer to be powered by an Intel processor.
Who Wants an iMac G5?
Who would buy an iMac G5? Well, that is a good question. Maybe some rich kid who just wants one, or better yet some small business owners whose software would not run smoothly on an iMac Core Duo at this time. I’m happy to see this price cut and only could have wished it was the iMac Core Duo model instead (Intel is cheaper no?).
