Spinal Tap 2: New Spinal Tap Sequel In The Works With Original Cast

Good news for Spinal Tap fans. Today a sequel was announced to the beloved 1984 mockumentary, This Is Spinal Tap.

Fans will be happy to know that Rob Reiner, Michael McKean, Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer are all set to return for “Spinal Tap 2.”

Spinal Tap 2’s Release Date

Spinal Tap 2 is scheduled to be released in March 2024. That means this Spinal Tap sequel is set to be released an incredible 40 years after the original film’s debut.

Wasn’t There Already A Spinal Tap Sequel?

Hardcore Spinal Tap fans might remember another Spinal Tap sequel called “The Return Of Spinal Tap.” This 15-minute mini-sequel was released in 2007 at the Tribeca Film Festival as part of the fundraising effort for Live Earth. You can watch The Return Of Spinal Tap here.

NERD NOTE: The 1984 film, This Is Spinal Tap, was released to critical acclaim, but failed to find an audience until it was released on VHS release. In 2002, the movie was deemed culturally significant by the Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
