The broadcast and cable-news networks will offer varying degrees of coverage over the next six days of services honoring former president Gerald Ford, and of his funeral in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Wednesday.
Beginning at approximately 3 p.m. today, CNN, C-SPAN, Fox News Channel and MSNBC will provide live coverage of the military ceremony as Ford’s body is brought to St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Palm Desert, Calif. The prayer service itself is closed to cameras.
The news operations of ABC (Channel 7) and CBS (Channel 9) will provide limited coverage at about 3:20 p.m. as the Ford family arrives at the church.
Tomorrow cable news networks continue their coverage at noon as officials escort the casket from the Palm Springs airport to Washington. CBS will go live at approximately 5:20 p.m., ABC at 6 and NBC (Channel 4) at 6:30 for the arrival in Washington and the procession to the Capitol.
