Spanish commercial channel Antena 3 became the first Spanish broadcaster to launch its own channel within the YouTube Web site Monday, allowing community users access to series, news, clips and other Antena 3 properties.
The move follows the BBC’s lead after the U.K. pubcaster signed a groundbreaking content deal with Google’s YouTube for three channels, including one news and two entertainment channels.
Antena 3 will update the channel with 10-15 clips weekly for its primary shows, including late night “Buenfuente” and magazines “Espejo Publico” and “En Antena” as well as freshly launched series “Cafeteria Manhattan” and “Los Hombres de Paco.”
“The new Antena 3 channel in YouTube allows us to get closer to our audience in a different way and allows us the opportunity to attract new potential audiences thanks to this platform,” said Giorgio Sbampato, general manager of new business for the broadcaster.
