We never thought we’d use the words “epic” and “Playmobil” in the same sentence… but alas, we just did. And it’s justified. Here’s an incredible stop stop motion animation using Playmobil figures to Joy Division‘s song “Transmission”.
The video this is based on Joy Division performance of Transmission on the BBC2 TV show “Something Else” (1978-1982).
The introduction of the Manchester, UK band is taken from the 2007 movie Control, a biographical film about the life of Joy Division’s singer, Ian Curtis. And that introduction is based on the introduction from Joy Division’s appearance on the UK TV show Granada Reports. In the movie, the band plays the song Transmission, in actuality, they played a song called Shadowplay. Is this all getting too meta?
Here’s the official music video for Transmission in case you’re curious.
