How safe is your operating system from hackers? Both Mac and PC user face threats, but Apple is betting on the open-source heritage of its UNIX-based operating system to spare Mac OS X Tiger from the never-ending security problems that have plagued Microsoft.
Apple’s Tiger operating system update is scheduled to debut Q1 of 2005. This will be the 5th update to OS X, which was first launched in March 2001, and is based on the open-source Unix platform.
What do you think? Is open-source software safer or more secure?
