Avatar – graphic representation of a person online, usually used to navigate a virtual world such as Second Life. Some try to make their avatars look like themselves, and others go for idealized/stylized visions. Japanese anime characteristics – larger heads and eyes – are common.
In Hindu philosophy, an avatar (also spelt as avatara), most commonly refers to the incarnation (bodily manifestation) of a higher being (deva), or the Supreme Being (God) onto planet Earth.
