Got it. America’s Got Talent, NBC’s summer competition, was the week’s No. 2 show (behind CSI: Miami). But with 9.9 million viewers, it was down more than 1 million from the previous Wednesday. A Thursday installment spiked, however, with 7.9 million viewers, 1.5 million more than the previous week. On Friday, NBC announced a new season of the Simon Cowell-produced show for early next year.
Singing the blues. ABC’s new singing competition, The One: Making a Music Star, had a microscopic premiere with 3.1 million viewers. Its Wednesday results show fared even worse with 2.6 million.
Eureka! Eureka, the Sci Fi Channel’s new dramedy about a secret community of geniuses, averaged 4.1 million viewers, the highest- rated series telecast in the cable network’s history.
Fashion forward. The second episode of Project Runway, with 2.6 million viewers, was Bravo’s most-watched show ever, beating the 2.4 million for last season’s finale and this season’s premiere.
No crying at Disney. Disney Channel launched another movie hit, Read It and Weep, cable’s most-watched movie and No. 3 in viewers with 5.4 million. The 13th airing of the indomitable High School Musical ranked fifth for the week in cable, with 5 million viewers.
