In July 2023, the Jacksonville Jaguars opened their new state-of-the-art facility. The two-story $120 million dollar complex is 125,000 square feet and spares no expense. In addition to a gym and cafeteria, it has everything from game rooms to golf simulators.
But there’s one feature at the Jacksonville Jaguars football complex that has completely blown everyone away: the urinals.
The High-Tech Urinals At The New Jacksonville Jaguars HQ
While Scott Hanson from NFL Redzone was touring around the new Jacksonville Jaguars football HQ, he noticed something special about the urinals in the bathroom. Each urinal had a sensor that tells players their hydration levels.
Hanson posted a video of the new high-tech urinals on Twitter which got over 1 million views in 7 days. It has since been cross posted online to places like Instagram and has a lot of sports teams wondering, where can we get one? That’s a lot of excitement for a urinal video!
Who Makes These Urinal Hydration Sensors?
If you look closely at the urinal videos from the Jacksonville Jaguars locker room, you can see the logo for the company that makes the hydration sensors, Intake Health. We reached out to them and connected with their EVP of Sales & Marketing, Dennis Wise.

So how do these urine hydration monitors work? Wise says using his company’s technology is easy. Male athletes just pee into the InFlow receptacle and then the sensors analyze your hydration levels.
If your hydration levels are good, then the lights flash green. But if you need to drink more water, the lights will flash either yellow or red. At a glance, athletes will know if their body requires more water, or not.
Using InFlow is easy. Athletes just pee into the sensor when they use the bathroom.
When the urinal flushes, the rear flap catches the water. So, when the urinal cleans itself, the InFlow’s receptacle gets rinsed too.
Why Staying Hydrated Is So Important For Athletes
Drinking enough water has always been important for athletes. Most locker rooms already have signs reminding athletes to drink water.
But the InFlow system adds a high-tech element to that monitoring process. This makes it easier than ever for sports administrators to promote proper hydration with teams.
“We know that dehydration is a major problem for athletes,” Wise added. “Our high-tech system can help to prevent heat-related illnesses and keep athletes safe.”
In addition to the Jacksonville Jaguars locker room, Wise says the system is already being used by several NFL, NBA, MLS and NHL professional sports teams. He is now working to expand the technology into more areas like Minor League Baseball and college sports.

As global warming causes temperatures to soar around the world, athletes are practicing and playing games in increasingly warmer venues. This makes maintaining proper hydration levels more important than ever.
