Moby’s music video for his song “Lie Down In Darkness” premiered today on Wired.com and the minute I saw/heard it, I liked it, a lot. This Moby song makes me tear up and I don’t even know why. It is wistful, haunting and historic – three of my favorite things – all rolled up into one.
The self proclaimed “music nerd” Moby has a good track record for making hits out of his celestial offerings. 2002’s “We Are All Made Of Stars” was one of the musician’s biggest singles and now this new video for “Lie Down In Darkness” features an old Russian Cosmonaut looking back on his time in outer space.
The video was released with perfect timing considering the recent changes in NASA’s space program and the retiring of the Space Shuttle program. Is the excitement of exploring space an aging thing of the past? Maybe Moby can answer that in his next extraterrestrial video odyssey. Until then, enjoy the music…
