Doomsdayers and preppers spend a lot of time preparing for the end of the world. Their efforts typically consist of things like food, water, and weapons. But even if you had everything your body needed to survive, would you do it alone? Ryan Meeks‘ short film DESERTED explores the extents one man endures in his quest for companionship after the apocalypse.

- Maclain Drake plays the part of John in DESERTED. Maclain is not only a talented actor, but he is a great DJ and Producer. In addition to producing short films with Dan McBride Films, he is the CEO and founder of Vibe Music Events. The company uses multi-sensory technology at music events to make them more accessible for the deaf and hard of hearing. With 70% hearing loss himself, he’s very passionate helping people in the hard of hearing community.
- Madi Cooper plays the part of Kim in DESERTED. Madi is an extremely talented actress with a BFA in musical theatre from the University of Utah. Her training and experience are quite extensive, especially in theatre. She recently played the main role in “The Wolves” (Alexandra Harbold) at the Salt Lake Acting Company and will now play Cynthia Fleming in their upcoming production “Saturday’s Voyeur.”
- Ryan Meeks is the Writer and Director of DESERTED. Other than a few student films and creating event and music videos since 2014, DESERTED is Ryan’s first attempt at making a short film. Ryan has a Film and Media Arts BFA from the University of Utah and is the Owner and Operator of his video and photography company Triad Media LLC. He also produces and sometimes co-hosts KSL NewsRadio‘s Fan Effect podcast, in which they review/discuss pop culture movies. Ryan is a stay at home dad of two children. His dream is to become a “Christopher Nolan like” writer and director in the thriller genre. He understands he has an extremely long and difficult road ahead.
