If you’ve ever chipped, cracked or smashed the glass on your smartphone, then you are going to love this video. Thanks to Corning Inc.‘s super-strong chemically treated glass products, like Gorilla Glass, every iPhone, and iPad screen has been as resilient as possible to damage. But based on the number of broken screens I’ve seen over the years, it’s definitely not enough. Enter the all-new Gorilla Glass 2.
How Strong is Gorilla Glass 2?
However earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Corning was hyping-up a sequel to Gorilla Glass, called Gorilla Glass 2, that’s much more scratch and crack resistant. How resistant? Let me put it this way, a sheet of Gorilla Glass 2 is probably more flexible than you are and could withstand a hammer hit.
Nothing has been confirmed by either Apple or Corning yet, but we’re crossing our fingers that the new iPhone 5 will have a Gorilla Glass 2 screen.
UPDATE: The speculation is over. The iPhone 5 does have a Gorilla Glass 2 screen. You can read more about the iPhone 5 announcement here.
