Tom Cruise is ready to take us back to the Danger Zone with Top Gun Maverick. Today Cruise surprised audiences at Comic-Con International with the first trailer for new Top Gun sequel.
Top Gun Maverick Trailer
The trailer focuses on a conversation between Maverick (Cruise) and his superior officer Ed Harris.
“30 plus years of service. Combat medals. Citations. The only man to shoot down three enemy planes in the last 40 years,” Ed Harris‘ character says. “Yet you can’t get a promotion, you won’t retire, and despite your best efforts, you refuse to die. You should be at least a two-star admiral by now, but here you are, captain. Why is that?”
“It’s one of life’s mysteries, sir,” Maverick responds.
The Top Gun Maverick Movie Will Cater To Fans Of The Original Film
If the trailer is a good indication, the new Top Gun Maverick movie will have plenty of nostalgic nods to fans of the original 1986 film. Fans should expect to see things like Tom Cruise racing his motorcycle, vertigo-inducing fighter jet scenes, another drunken bar singalong and shirtless volleyball game, and lots of leather jackets and aviator sunglasses.
“Top Gun: Maverick” aka Top Gun 2 soars into theaters on June 26, 2020, in the US and July 17, 2020, in the UK.
