Apparently, there’s a day for everything… even toilets? No joke. November 19th is the international day of observance for World Toilet Day. If you’re looking for ways to celebrate, we suggest not dropping your iPhone or iPod in your toilet. Or maybe try dressing up your toilet with a tacky Santa Claus outfit.
All kidding aside, the real point of World Toilet Day is to remember how important toilets are. We are lucky to have adequate sanitation in the United States. But sadly, more people on this planet have a mobile phone than a toilet, and a child dies every 20 seconds from diarrhea caused by contaminated drinking water. Gross and very sad at the same time.
Happy World Toilet Day From Matt Damon
Even actor Matt Damon is pitching in to help promote World Toilet Day with a friendly NSFW reminder of the day’s importance. You can get more info on World Toilet Day at worldtoilet.org.
