eMusic will relaunch its music subscription service this week. Their new strategy will focus on providing content with an independent appeal and dramatically different than its bigger rivals.
Apple has been very successful with their iTunes Store, which launched in 2003. It will be interesting to see if eMusic can keep up. They are definitely at a huge disadvantage. Apple’s ecosystem now includes music, software and hardware (iPod).
Established in 1998, eMusic is one of the oldest names in the digital music industry. It will be interesting to watch their strategy evolve to compete with Apple.
