Did you sell your business or just need to change your Google My Business manager? Here’s an easy tutorial that will show you how to change the primary owner on Google My Business or transfer control to the new owners or their marketing team.
Requirements:
- Primary User access to your Google My Business account
- 5 minutes of free time
Sign In To Google My Business
On your computer, sign in to Google My Business. You must be the Primary User for your account. If you are not, then please send this tutorial to the Primary User for your Google My Business account.
- Sign in to Google My Business to access the Google My Business manager tools page
Choose A Location
If your business has multiple locations, then choose the location that you want to manage. Just click on a location from the list.
- Select a location to manage
Select Users
The Google My Business screen for each location allows you to manage everything from your Google reviews to users for that location.
- Invite / Manage users
Invite New Users (Optional)
If there is only one user listed, you, then you will need to invite other people to help manage your Google My Business account.
- Click on Add Users
- Enter the new manager’s Gmail address or non-Google email address, choose a role and send them an invitation
- The new user will need to check their email and accept the invite
Choose The New Primary Owner
- Select the user you want to be the new Primary Owner. To the right of their name, will be a menu with options to change user roles.
- Select “Primary Owner” as their new role
Just a word of caution, only give someone that your fully trust Primary User access to your account. The Primary User will have the ability to lock you out of the account. There are several other user levels, like Site Manager or Manager, that may be more appropriate for your needs. Scroll down to the bottom of this article for a chart listing user options.
Transfer Business Owners
The next step is simple, just transfer control to the new Primary User. Again, just be careful about whom you choose to be the new Primary Owner. There’s no going back once you choose the new online managers for your business. They will now have the ability to change your business information and manage permission of other users depending on the access that you have assigned them.
- Click Transfer.
How To Change The Primary Owner On Google My Business
That’s it. Switching the Primary User of a Google My Business account to a new owner is actually very easy. The new managers will now have the ability to update both the business profile and business page for the company’s Google My Business account.
