For his first scheduling announcement at NBC, Ben Silverman didn’t have to look far.
The new NBC Entertainment/NBC Universal TV Studio co-chairman announced Monday that unscripted entry “The Biggest Loser” will return on Sept. 4 with a “Where Are They Now” special edition.
Peacock will then premiere the new season of “Loser” on Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. with a two-hour bow. (“Loser” will air another two-hour seg the following week, before settling into its regular hourlong Tuesday slot.)
“This is an innovative way to re-introduce an audience favorite and answer the question everyone asks — ‘Did they keep the weight off?’ ” Silverman said.
“Biggest Loser” comes from Silverman’s Reveille shingle, making for the unusual prospect of him announcing a show for which he is an executive producer.
New season of “Biggest Loser” includes a new host, Alison Sweeney, and the return of former “Biggest Loser” trainer Jillian Michaels — whose new role on the show has been kept a secret. The “Where Are They Now” special will revisit contestants who have kept the weight off as well as those who put the pounds back on.
