One of my pet peeves is people who drive in the breakdown lanes or make illegal U-Turns. I probably see at least one U-Turn accident per month in Salt Lake City, Utah. The roads are so wide here that making an illegal U-Turn is easy even in areas where U-Turns are prohibited.
This Driver Just Made Their Last Illegal U-Turn
So I had to smile when I saw this picture on an idiot who decided to do an illegal U-Turn right into a section of freshly poured concrete. Seriously, the construction crew is right there and there are orange cones everywhere.

Embarisenment aside, this U-Turn accident will likely be a very expensive mistake. Not only will the driver get a ticket for their illegal U-Turn, but I imagine that they will be somewhat responsible for the costs to repour the concrete as well as repair their car.
Sometimes U-Turns Are Prohibited For Good Reason
U-Turns have a lot of advantages and statistically may even be safer than making a left turn. But sometimes U-Turns are prohibited for good reason.
I wonder if the driver had the guts to apologize to the road crew. What a dumbass. But one thing is for sure: this will be the last illegal u-turn they make the rest of their life.
