For many, Hurricane Sandy may seem like old news. However, for our friends and family on the East Coast, specifically New Jersey and New York, the storm cleanup continues. While devastation clean-up isn’t necessarily what we want to think about as we approach the holidays, it’s an unfortunate activity many will be dealing with well into the new year.
Besides flood damage, one of the things my immediate family had to deal with was our roof. Hurricane Sandy’s winds had not only ripped away shingles, but blew debris all over our property, including into our gutters. In fact, our gutters were so bad, that we joked it it was like a black oily alien worm infestation similar to what the crew from Ridley Scott‘s movie Prometheus had to contend with. But it turns out, there’s a gadget to help clean up messy gutters called the iRobot Looj ($95).
The iRobot Looj saves you the hassle from having to reposition your ladder multiple times while cleaning your gutters. Just put your ladder in one spot, turn it on and let the robot travel for you. The waterproof iRobot Looj will travel through your gutter like a train and blast away leaves, dirt, clogs and sludge. Its Low profile design is just under 2″ high and 3″ wide and is able to fit in more gutters including most K-style aluminum, copper, metal or vinyl gutters.
The iRobot Looj goes where humans don’t dare. If the scientists on board the spaceship Prometheus needed to clean their gutters on their journey to the darkest corners of the universe, this is the tool they would take.
Captain Janek (Idris Elba) would easily pilot the ship through an unexpected sand storm while simultaneously propelling the waterproof iRobot Looj to blast through dirt and debris at 500 RPMs.
- Dr. Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) would easily snap the remote controlled device to the belt clip of her sleek neoprene space suit, freeing her hands to investigate alien life forms.
- And with the efficiency of the iRobot Looj, Meredith Vickers (Charlize Theron, pictured right) may not even be needed on the voyage. After all, the only role she served on board the spaceship was to make sure others do their jobs. And the Looj practically operates on its own.
Aliens aside, if you know someone that may need help with their gutters, then consider getting them an iRobot Looj. MethodShop will also lend a helping hand to those affected by Superstorm Sandy — for each iRobot Looj purchased on Cyber Monday (between 12:01am – 11:59pm EST on November 26, 2012) by clicking on this link —-> MethodShop Supports the American Red Cross Disaster Relief, we will donate $1 USD to the American Red Cross. We can all do our part to help.
